Meditation has often been misunderstood as something that only deeply spiritual people do (often alone on a mountain top). Actually, research is showing that meditation is able to assist the body to achieve emotional and physical health. The key is to find a form of meditation that works for you and then to develop a daily practice. It's very much like a muscle that needs to be used or it will atrophy.
Unfortunately, in many ways we have allowed our minds to atrophy and we have over-worked our analytical part of our brain (the left side). The more the analytical part is left to govern 100%, the more we see people who are exhausted and stressed. Our thoughts are often left to run "amuck" in our brains with nobody to slow them down or even question their validity. Meditation techniques help to slow the constant "chatter" in our minds that often are building stories with bad endings. The practice leaves people with feelings of calm, confidence and increased intuition.
